The Lycée français international de Reus Marguerite Yourcenar opened its doors 34 years ago with the aim of offering quality education in French, Spanish, Catalan and English, in an educational environment tailored to the needs and pace of the pupils.
This is the history of the Lycée français international de Reus Marguerite Yourcenar:
- 1988: the school opened its doors under the name Bon Soleil, welcoming 32 pupils between Petite section (3-4 years) and Grande section (5-6 years).
- 2000: Seconde (15-16 year-olds) pupils were taught for the first time.
- 2010: The school joined the Mission Laïque Française, a public utility association for the dissemination of French language and culture through schooling abroad.
- 2017: more than 290 pupils enrolled from a radius of 30 km around Reus.
- 2017: the CFR centre changed its name to Collège français international de Reus Marguerite Yourcenar.
- 2021: the Collège became a Lycée by incorporating the baccalaureate courses, thus completing the schooling of pupils from 3 to 18 years of age. It changed its name to Lycée français international de Reus Marguerite Yourcenar and the international network Mission Laïque Française took over full responsibility for the school.
- 2022: the Lycée embarked on a project to extend and improve its facilities: ‘Grandir ensemble’. The building work started in the summer of 2022 and included the refurbishment of the playground, the new library, the fence around the entire school and new science classrooms and labs.
